Mentorship for Sustainability Program

Program Overview

This program connects mentees (16+) in northeast Illinois with sustainability and environmental justice leaders (local or virtual) for hands-on learning, collaboration, and career exploration. Participants gain educational, professional, leadership, and networking experience through monthly sessions and guided projects.

Mentee Experience

• One-on-one career and education guidance from sustainability leaders

• Monthly collaboration and learning sessions 

• Career exploration and completion of final project

• Connect with local organizations and leaders working with the Global Youth Biodiversity Network, Young Professionals for Agricultural Development, Latino Outdoors, and more!

Mentor Experience

• At least for one hour each month from February to June or August to December virtually or in-person

• Optional monthly collaboration and learning sessions 

• Mentee support on career exploration and completion of final project

• Virtual mentors are welcome.

Program Structure

• Program length: February–June or August-December

• Honorarium: $15/hour

• Time commitment: 6 hours/month
